Back Story

Originally from Michigan, Kathy MacKenzie, the founder/chief stager of Spotlight Stagers, moved to Central Texas immediately upon graduation from college.

Kathy didn't start out as a stager. She began her career in advertising, moving up to Advertising Director at the local newspaper, before shifting gears to serve as a real estate agent in the Austin/Round Rock area. After a few years helping others buy and sell homes, she continued to grow her business by using knowledge she acquired by earning her certification as a feng shui consultant and later her staging certification. She soon discovered helping her clients with the staging brought her the greatest joy and in 2008 she launched Spotlight Stagers in Round Rock. 

Accomplishments/Designations

  • e-Pro Designation - 2001 (she's good with computers)
  • Certified Feng Shui Consultant - 2005 (using the teachings of feng shui to arrange furniture and decor to create spaces that feel good)
  • Broker (Texas) - 2007
  • Certified Home Stager - 2008 (stage homes that appeal to a wide range of buyers to sell faster)

Together this knowledge, skill and experience makes her invaluable to her clients. She knows marketing, real estate sales, the current local real estate market stats, and, of course, she knows staging. 

Kathy's greatest joy is helping others obtain their dreams! Her high energy, creativity, enthusiasm and compassion is used daily as the founder and lead stager at Spotlight Stagers as she works to make her clients' dreams come true. She knows what your house needs to get it sold! 

In 2024, Spotlight Stagers relocated to New Braunfels. We're new to town, but not new to staging homes.

Fun Facts

 Kathy loves living and working in New Braunfels. When not helping her clients, her interests include:

  • Mother to beautiful adult daughter
  • Singing in the church choir (First United Methodist)
  • Animal Lover (volunteer at the New Braunfels Humane Society)
  • Traveling / Exploring the hill country
  • Photographing animals and landscapes (in addition to houses)
  • Writing and recording songs and even performing live occasionally around town
  • Water-skiing, pickleball, and leisurely bike rides through neighborhoods

You'll find Kathy makes the process as stress-free as possible thanks to her personalized and professional service. You may even have some FUN!
